Using the beta
Sift is a food-label reading tool. By choosing to use it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not upload photos or create an account. Accounts are optional for scanning. The current app has no payment or subscription facility.
What results mean
Gemini transcribes your photo and reads a product name. Local software checks that text for allergens and selected dietary preferences. Results describe what was found in the text that could be read. They do not establish everything in a product.
Photos may be blurred, cropped, outdated or incomplete, and transcription and matching can be wrong. An unflagged ingredient is not proof of absence. A saved-allergen result covers your selected list only. Custom terms use limited keyword checks. Ingredient notes are descriptive; they are not a health rating.
Sift does not provide medical advice, diagnose allergies, confirm cross-contact conditions or certify halal, kosher, vegan or other dietary status. It cannot determine whether a food is appropriate for you to eat. Read the original package, follow professional advice for your allergies and contact the manufacturer when wording is unclear. Do not rely on Sift as your only source when making an allergy decision.
Photos and accounts
Upload only label photos you have permission to use. Keep faces, receipts, identifying details and confidential information out of the image. You allow Sift and its service providers to process your upload to provide the scan as described in the Privacy Policy. These terms do not transfer ownership of your photo to Sift.
Keep your login credentials private and review your saved preferences. Do not upload unlawful material, attempt to access other users' records, bypass access controls or interfere with the service.
Availability and records
The beta may have errors, interruptions and scan limits. Results may fail to save. There is no automatic expiry of stored scan records. Closing a tab or signing out does not delete server records. You can permanently delete your account and its scans from Profile; see the privacy notice for what deletion removes and what it cannot reach. Read the privacy notice before uploading.
Copyright and external services
Product names and packaging shown in examples identify the labels being discussed and do not indicate endorsement by their owners. The example is a saved demonstration, not a scan of your product. Third-party software and fonts remain subject to their own licences; see the third-party notices.
Your rights
Nothing in these draft terms is intended to exclude rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded. No blanket liability waiver or indemnity is included.
Contact and changes
The operator and the current contact position are described in the Privacy Policy. A monitored contact channel must be published and tested before beta invitations. Material changes to these terms should be communicated before users are asked to accept them.
